misconception I remember Garrett saying this very powerful thing. A lot of Christians have the mindset that God and church is the same thing. Many think that the only way to come to God is coming to church. Many think that what they do in church determines their value in God. Many think that how well they perform in church determines their growth in God. I remember saying this line in my previous entry. Being a Christian is really not about how often you go to church, how many services you go a week, how available you are for your ministries, how big your zone and CG grows or how many friends you bring... Don't get me wrong, church is important, ministry is important. It's what you're doing for God. It's the church of God. It's God's family. And it's God's ministry. Ultimately, we don't want to hurt God nor hurt pastors. :) But what is most important ultimately? Being a good testimony for God. With that I disagree with doing badly in our studies while we're doing 1001 things in church. With that I disagree with being disconnected from our families because of church work. With that I disagree with even neglecting some people IN CHURCH just because you get busier. As much as I have done all three things, I am totally against it. Because I know, if your life with God is right, you will never have such problems. You can be busy doing church things, but not to all these extents. You can be doing well and growing in your ministry, but neglecting other things in life which are as important. Often, your busy-ness in church doesn't really reflect your relationship with God. How high you go in church doesn't really reflect how high you are growing in God. Yes, rise up as much as you are inspired and convicted to be. Yes, let's bear the burden of our pastors and leaders... But take note, even they wouldn't want our lives to fall in this trap... The key to staying right is just to do what God would want you to do in every situation. Stay connected. Guard your heart. :) |
